FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS
Most answers are below. If yours isn't, we'll get back to you within 24 hours.
Authenticity & Verification
Q1 How do you verify each pair is authentic? +
Every pair lands in our hands before it lands on the site. We cross-check style codes against verified production runs, inspect stitching, soleplate construction, lining tags, and packaging against reference pairs we've authenticated over the past six years.
If a pair has any inconsistency — wrong tag font, mismatched style code, wrong insole design, packaging that doesn't line up with the era — they don't make the cut.
Q2 What does your 3× money-back authenticity guarantee actually cover? +
If a pair you buy from us is ever proven inauthentic by a recognised third-party authenticator, we refund you 3× the amount you paid.
This is because we're genuinely confident in our process. We've shipped 1000+ pairs to 25+ countries and the guarantee has never been claimed. That's the kind of certainty we want to put behind every order.
Q3 Are the photos of the actual pair I'll receive? +
Every photo on every listing is shot by us in our studio in consistent lighting. No stock images, no taken from google or other websites, no "indicative of condition" disclaimers.
If a boot has multiple sizes listed & yours isn't photographed, simply just contact us.
If you spot something in a photo that looks off, that's because it's actually on the boot. Ask us about it and we'll send more details before you commit to making a purchase.
Q4 Why should I trust BootsVault over eBay or Facebook Marketplace? +
You absolutely can buy on those platforms. Plenty of people do. But football boots are only just starting to be included in authentication services, so even where it does apply, fakes are regularly slipping through.
What you're paying for here isn't just the pair. It's specialist knowledge of the model, exact-pair photography, honest condition grading, and a guarantee that actually holds weight. You're paying for certainty.
Q5 Is this an original release or a reissue? +
Every listing tells you exactly which release it is — original (year of first production), or remake. If a pair is a 2024 reissue of a 2002 silhouette, we'll say so plainly.
If you want an original release specifically, filter by release year or message us — we'll point you toward what we've got.
Condition, Age & Wearability
Q1 Will the soles separate or crumble after I wear them? +
This is the question we get asked most, and it deserves a real answer. Midsoles can degrade over time even in storage — it's called hydrolysis, and humidity speeds it up. Boots that look mint in photos can fail on first wear if nobody's actually checked them.
Every pair we list goes through a sole-flex test and adhesive inspection before it's photographed. If a pair shows signs of age-related risk, we'll make sure you're aware by listing it explicitly as collection only — never as match-ready.
Q2 How does your condition grading work? +
We use four grades and we publish what each one means:
Brand New In Box/Brand New (BNIB/BN) — Unworn, with the original box & accessories where possible. Worn Once (A+) — A pair in brand new condition with little to no signs of wear. Like New (A) — Worn lightly, structurally perfect, minimal signs of wear. Good Condition (B) — Played in but well-maintained, with every imperfection photographed and described. Fair (C) — Aesthetically the pair you want, but flagged by us as faily worn, may not hold up well if using regularly.
Every listing carries one of these grades plus a full written condition report, with specific notes. "Light scuffing on the stud tips from two wears on firm ground" — not just "good condition."
Q3 Can I actually play in these, or is it just a display piece? +
Every listing tells you upfront. Match-ready pairs say so. Collection-only pairs say so. We don't dance around it — selling someone a $1000 grail that snaps in the first game fastest way to lose a customer for life.
If a pair is borderline (e.g., 12 years old but structurally sound), we often recommend wearing them only sometimes, and we'll say that on the listing.
Q4 How should I store and care for them? +
Cool, dry, out of direct sunlight. Don't leave them in a hot car or a damp shed — both kill old boots fast. If you're storing leather pairs long-term, condition the uppers every six to twelve months with a leather treatment that doesn't contain silicone.
For deadstock pairs you want to keep mint, leave them in their box and original wrapping.
Q5 If a sole separates after I've worn them, can it be repaired? +
Often, yes. A clean sole separation on an otherwise solid upper can usually be re-glued by a specialist cobbler with two-part polyurethane adhesive. We can recommend repairers in Australia and a couple of trusted ones overseas.
Shipping & Delivery
Q1 How long until my order arrives? +
Orders dispatch from Australia within 1 business day. From there, it's typically 2 – 4 days within Australia, 5 – 9 days to the UK, US and EU, and 7 – 14 days everywhere else. Every order is tracked end-to-end.
If you need a pair faster than that for a match, message us before you order — we can arrange next day courier delivery at an extra fee.
Q2 Do you ship internationally? +
Yes — we've shipped to 25+ countries so far, with the UK, US, Germany, the Netherlands, Spain, Japan and the UAE being our biggest international markets. All international orders are tracked and signed-for on delivery.
Customs and import duties are the buyer's responsibility — we don't pre-pay them, and we can't predict what your country will charge. Contact us before you purchase if you're unsure.
Q3 What happens if my package is lost or damaged in transit? +
Every order is tracked and insured. If something goes wrong — lost in transit, package crushed, marked delivered but didn't arrive — message us within 7 days of the expected delivery date and we'll open a claim with the courier and sort it.
You're not chasing the courier on your own. We'll help you.
Q4 How much does shipping cost? +
$10 standard shipping, $15 express shipping within Australia. International rates are calculated at checkout based on destination — no markup, just what the courier charges us.
Afterpay and PayPal are both available at checkout. International payment options vary by region.
Returns, Sizing & Fit
Q1 What's your return policy? +
7-day exchange window on unworn pairs. If they don't fit, get in touch within 7 days of delivery and we'll arrange a swap if we have your size in another pair, or a store credit if we don't.
Refunds for change-of-mind aren't standard given the rare nature of our inventory. But if a pair arrives not as described, that's a different story and we'll fully refund you, no friction.
Q2 Old boot sizing is different — how do I know what to order? +
Vintage sizing genuinely doesn't always match modern equivalents. Older Mercurials run narrow. Predator Manias run a half-size large. Tiempo Legend III sits true to size but the toe box is shallower than today's Legends.
Every listing includes the size as printed on the boot, plus our note on how it actually fits compared to current-gen equivalents. If you're unsure, message us with your current boot model and size — we'll tell you straight whether to size up, down, or stick.
Q3 Will these work for AFL? +
Most soccer boots in our inventory work for AFL — most AFL players we know wear soccer boots, since AFL-specific ranges are limited.
Q4 Are the studs legal for rugby? +
World Rugby has specific regulations on stud length, shape and edges (Regulation 12). FG soccer studs are usually fine for backs; if you're playing forward, you'll typically want SG screw-ins. Every listing tells you the soleplate type (FG / SG / AG / MG) and whether the studs are fixed or replaceable.
Referees can deem equipment unsafe at their discretion, so if you're using soccer boots for rugby, double-check with your match official before kick-off.
BOOTSVAULTiD Personalisation
Q1 Will it ruin a rare or expensive boot? +
No. BOOTSVAULTiD lifts off cleanly with zero adhesive residue when you're done with it. We've tested it on every upper material we ship, and on pairs ranging up $1,500.
The adhesive is purpose-built for boot uppers, not generic decal glue. If you're nervous about a particular pair, apply to a less-visible area first and peel after a week. You'll see for yourself.
Q2 Will it survive a full match in the rain or mud? +
Yes. The adhesive cures over 24 hours after application, and once it's set, it holds through full matches in any conditions Australia or anywhere else throws at it. We back this with our match-wear guarantee — if your iD peels within the first season under normal football use, we replace it free.
The one thing that does kill it: applying it to a dirty or wet boot. Wipe the area with alcohol first, let it dry fully, then apply. The instructions in your pack walk you through it.
Q3 How long does my BOOTSVAULTiD take to arrive? +
Each iD is custom-cut to order in Australia. Production takes 1 – 2 business days, and we ship the same day production finishes. Most AU customers get it within 3 – 5 days end-to-end.
That's significantly faster than the UK send-in services, and you never have to post your boots overseas to get it done.
Q4 What if I make a typo? +
If you spot the typo within 30 minutes of ordering, email us and we can usually catch it before production starts. After that, the iD is already being cut and we can't reverse it — you'd need to order a replacement.
Triple-check before you click buy. The preview on the product page shows exactly what we'll cut.
Selling & Sourcing
Q1 I have a pair to sell. Will you buy it? +
Quite possibly, yes. We're always looking for rare, classic and deadstock pairs — particularly Predator (any era), Tiempo Legend pre-VII, Mercurial Vapor I–IX, CTR360, T90 Laser, and any player-issue or match-worn pairs.
Send us photos of the boots, the box, the size tag and the soleplate, plus a quick note on condition and how much you're asking for. We'll come back within 24 hours with an answer for you, no time wasters.
Q2 Can you hunt down a specific pair I'm looking for? +
Yes. Tell us the model, colourway, era and your size, and we'll add it to our hunt list. We've got contacts globally in the rare-boot world, and pairs we couldn't find for a year sometimes turn up in a week.
We'll only ever come back to you with a pair that we've deemed authentic & matches what you're looking for.
Q3 Can I get notified when new pairs land? +
Yes — drop your email in the early access bar at the bottom of the page. We send a heads-up 24 hours before any new drop goes live.
Rare boots can come up at any time. There's no schedule. Our email list is how the people get first dibs on new drops.
